You may have noticed a lot of affiliate software and programs flowing through the blog over the last 2 days. There is a reason behind this madness, I am not just trying to make you go broke by wanting to buy all these great promotions.

I have been conducting my own crude test to see how fast my blogs are getting indexed by Google. As well as trying out a new link cloaker / tracker, which I will talk about in another post.

So you want the non-professional results of my indexing experiment do you? Well I will give you the down and dirty, as I am still working on it, and I kinda skewed the results. First on the front end. This site currently sees what I would consider ZERO traffic, it isn’t actually zero but nothing to speak of. Less than 50 visitors per day. I am working on that too. This site also currently has very few backlinks, i can count them on one hand. I said the test was skewed because I am in the middle of redoing the site, and I changed the structure from a subdomain to all on the top level domain in the middle of the test. (OOPS)

Well here’s the dirty results. 3 of my posts were direct copy ezine articles from the affiliates tools section of the given affiliate. These were indexed within 24 hours! The others were indexed within 48 hours. No too bad. But I am no SEO expert so they do not rank well for their keywords. But gotta crawl before I can run.

My traffic from the video I posted on YouTube has gotten me more exposure for my site than I had even imagined.  It has been 6 days, and I have gotten almost 16,000 hits on you tube.  The traffic on my site keeps doubling everyday, it is like a virus, and just keeps spreading.  There are several videos on YouTube of the exact same commercial.  It would seem there is enough room for some competition.  We shall see when things level off.  For now I need to figure a way to convert all of my new found traffic.

I recently realized the power of YouTube.  I saw a commercial that I found hilarious and was relevant to one of my blog themes.  I copied the commercial from my Tivo and hosted a copy on YouTube so I could easily post it on my blog.  I put my website name on the bottom of the video, not even a link, just text. In 48 hours, I had over 3000 views at YouTube, and had a large increase in traffic to my site.

This really opened my eyes to the advertising power of YouTube.  I was lucky enough to get in on this commercial right when it was released, being in the front of the line has to help before the market gets saturated.    Now the key is to stay on top of it and find more new content I can video and get on YouTube for promotion.

It has been a while since I have posted.  I haven’t given up the affiliate challenge.  I am still working on a few different things.  One of my original goals was to bring my AdSense earnings to $1 per day.  For the month of February I averaged $0.40 per day.  I had quite a few days over $1, but just as many at $0.  Most of my traffic has come from Google Organically.  My sites have really just started getting indexed this month, so hopefully things pick up.  One thing I have not worked on is link exchanging.  I have read many a SEO tips that say this is the key.    At first I wasn’t keen on the idea of emailing a bunch of sites to see if they wanted to share links, but at this point it can’t hurt.  That will be one of my goals this coming month.

As most already know content is king.  Unique content is the king of kings.  I decided I should start some legit unique content sites, (beside this one) to see what can come of it.  I have expanded my Cheesy Meat Games site, to be a full cooking site.  It includes a blog, an amazon affiliate store, the big fish games site, and a recipe management section powered by OpenEats. The blog has been useful for generating traffic, as well as being able to feature product from my everyday life linked through the amazon affiliate.

I have also started Bad Luck Blog.  This blog is open for anyone to post a story about how crappy their day was, or to complain about whatever is on their chest.  The idea is to get unique content through a community of people.   This site is only a few days old now, and needs some work still, and will need a lot of promotion.  If this takes off I will need to look into a better way to keep the spam and garbage at bay beside manual review.
